The
Big Story
Hi, my name is Sammy.
One time I wrote a story and sent it to the
newspaper. It was fun.
I wrote a story about my dog. He was famous when
his story was published. My mom and dad got mad. They got mad
because people came over to the house to see my dog and to get his
paw print. Mom had to make lots of lemonade and coffee. I really
liked the cookies.
I was happy. I liked it when some cars parked in
our driveway and blocked the garage door. My big brother could
not get his bike out. He wanted to go for a ride with his
friends. He was mad.
My mom was mad. My dad was mad. My brother was
mad.
I was happy. I laughed and laughed. My dog ran
all around the yard barking and wagging his tail.
Mrs. Rankin, the next-door neighbor lady got mad.
Then her husband got mad. People parked their cars up and down
the street, and blocked the neighbor's driveway. The next-door
neighbors could not go the movies or to the store to get milk and
bread. Mrs. Rankin came over and yelled at my brother and then at
my dad. Everyone was very mad. My mom started crying.
I laughed and laughed. My dog ran over and licked
Mrs. Rankin's foot. When she screamed and jumped, he ran all
around the yard in big circles and barked at all the noise and at
all the people.
When it got dark, people stopped coming by to see
my dog. My mom and Mrs. Rankin started walking around the house
and talking about flowers. My brother and dad went inside to
watch football. Mr. Rankin went to the store for bread and milk.
I went upstairs to write another story for the newspaper. It was
a fun day.
The feature editor at the newspaper called me this
afternoon. He said my new story about my family and neighbors
will be in Saturday's Special Edition. The story is about how
everybody got mad when my dog was famous.
I am very happy today. My dog is outside running
all around the yard and barking. I think he knows when I'm happy.
The End
